About the Rubbish Film Festival
The Rubbish Film Festival is an award-winning environmental media initiative for Transition Year students, inviting them to explore vital sustainability issues by creating impactful one-minute films. With a hands-on, creative approach, the festival empowers young people to become digital storytellers and changemakers.
We are now recruiting a network of freelance workshop facilitators to deliver creative media sessions in schools in various regions for our 2025–2026 program.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned workshops in schools (primarily TY students)
Facilitate student-led development of one-minute environmental films
Guide students in scripting, filming, and basic editing using mobile devices and apps
Encourage creative expression and environmental thinking through digital storytelling
Represent the festival professionally in school and community settings
Provide light admin/documentation on sessions (through Notion & Slack)
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals with:
Experience teaching, facilitating or mentoring young people (especially aged 15–17)
Practical skills in digital media, video production, or creative arts
Passion for climate action, environmental education or sustainability
Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and adapt sessions on the ground
Full driving licence and willingness to travel within their region
Flexibility to work 3–4 days/week during school terms
Bonus points for:
Familiarity with TY programmes or Green-Schools
Garda Vetting (or willingness to be vetted)
Experience using CapCut, iMovie, or similar tools
